The local neighborhood variety store, long a staple of downtown, will be returning to Main Street Wednesday. Gary Bloom, the former manager of the J.J. Newberry's store that stood on the corner of Main and Hanover streets for many years, will open Bloom's Variety store at the same location.

For their hard work and perseverance, Gary and Martha Bloom, owners of Bloomâs Variety, were awarded the Blue Chip Business Recognition Award for April 2000. The award was presented to the Blooms by Michael Toomey and Judi Tucker, of Bank of New Hampshire and Tom Space of The Pinnacle Group, sponsors of the award. The Citizen is also a sponsor of the award.
